Want to become more involved with Sippican Lands Trust but not sure how? We are always looking for volunteers in a variety of tasks. Here are just a few ways you could help:
Become a Steward Monitor: The SLT has an active Stewardship Program. Land owners, abutters, students and hunters are all examples of the volunteers who help to monitor and maintain our properties. The help of these steward monitors is essential to the SLT. Many are assigned a property to oversee, survey annually and help identify any situations that require attention.
Work Parties: Throughout the year, the SLT hosts “work parties” where volunteers gather at a specific property and work together to address the physical needs of that site. It’s always a fun day of a little sweat, followed by food and refreshments shared with great people!
Events: Do you like party planning? Then this is the opportunity for you. The SLT hosts a number of events throughout the year that rely heavily on volunteers. Tasks include planning, organization, set-up, clean-up, manning tables and more.
Office: There are plenty of ways to help out at the SLT office. Some tasks include mailings, scanning, copies, organization and more.
Committees: In addition to our board of directors, the SLT also has a number of committees which are always looking for fresh new faces to join.
Trail Walk Leader: Love to walk our trails or know about the history of one of our properties? Become a trail walk leader and share your love and knowledge with others.
If any of these opportunities look interesting to you or if you have another way you would like to volunteer, please send an email to info@sippicanlandstrust.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
