SIPPICAN LANDS TRUST SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Sippican Lands Trust seeks applicants for its $1,000.00 “Helen A. Arthur Scholarship Award”, which will be awarded to a local high school senior and Marion resident graduating by June 30, 2013, from Bishop Stang High School, Old Rochester Regional High School, Old Colony or Tabor Academy pursuing an education in environmental studies or a related field.
The scholarship is made available through the Sippican Lands Trust stewardship fund. The scholarship is consistent with the SLT mission of preserving land in order to enrich the quality of life for present and future generations of Marion and visitors and of furthering environmental education in the community.
Along with an application; the following additional information is required:
- A Personal Statement about career goals as they relate to the mission of the SLT, past and present.
- A signed Community Service Form documenting a minimum of 20 hours of community service.
- Professional letter of reference (teacher or guidance counselor)
- A Character letter of reference (such as employer, Scout leader, community leader and or neighbor).
- Official school transcript including credits and class rank.
- Schools to be included ORR, Bishop Stang, Tabor Academy and Old Colony.

Applicants will be assessed according to academic achievement, pursuit of education in the environmental studies or a related field, personal statement, professional and personal references, community service, and financial need.
The recipient will be selected by May 20, and will be notified by mail. The recipient will be recognized at his or her school’s awards ceremony. The award will be disbursed after the student submits a college transcript documenting successful completion of his or her first semester in college to the Scholarship Committee of the SLT.
